1. The coming or arrival, especially of something extremely important

this Christmas, the thought of advent hits a lot closer to home that it normally does.  growing up in the church, sure i was taught about the hopeful and amazing expectation of Christ... a baby born to save us all.
but now, now i know first hand what it feels like to be a mother, patiently (or not so patiently) waiting on the birth of my child.

“The Christmas message is that there is hope for a ruined humanity—hope of pardon, hope of peace with God, hope of glory—because at the Father’s will Jesus Christ became poor and was born in a stable so that thirty years later he might hang on a cross. It is the most wonderful message that the world has ever heard, or will hear.” -JJ Packer

a baby truly changes everything.
"My whole life is turned around, I was lost but now I'm found; A baby changes everything" -Faith Hill

i see clearly how the expectation of Harper has already changed us. she changes the way we see and plan for our future. she changes even our day to day decisions... she has given us a new light or hope for our future and for our family.  she is our little miracle!

so how amazing that we get to celebrate, every year, the child born to give hope to us all... to bring us all eternal life, to bare all of our sins and failures.  it really does bring extra meaning to me, as i'm expecting my own child.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
