it's a lovely life

it's been awhile since i've sat down and blogged about life and its happenings as of late.  it's been a busy one!  i traveled back to MO to see my parents this past weekend...a 5 day weekend with family was just what I needed.  we have a lot of exciting things happening these days and it was so good to stop, relax, simplify, and just rest.  i was able to not only see my parents, but also my sister and her family, as well as many people who i grew up with and are so special to me from my early years.

it's also been awhile since i added to my never ending list.  the ladies i was previous linking up with moved the link up to mondays...but oh well.  here it is thursday, and i'm just gonna keep my list going :) it's going to be a short and sweet one today, because really all of them can be summed up in one brief statement.

65.  he loves me better than anyone else in the world.  i enjoy being around him every second of the day and can never get enough. i love that he's always excited to see me...whether its been 5 days or 5 hours.  hes my best friend and an amazing man of God.  i hit the jackpot! ♥

love is... {vol. 1}

I have often contemplated on 1 Corinthians 13, as God lays out for us exactly what love is and is not.  He is pretty clear that we are to love one another as He loves us.  The Bible also points out that God IS love.  So I also feel that 1 Corinthians 13, points us directly to the attributes of our creator, the one who loves us so deeply.

My goal is to break each tiny fragment of these verses on love down over time; blog about it; share my thoughts and my heart.  I'm not claiming to be a knowledgeable theological scholar.  I'm just a girl, who loves God with all of her heart, seeking him and learning as I go.

love is patient. God is DEFINITELY patient. we are called to be patient. with patience there is wisdom. patience in God's timing is a necessity.  with patience comes trust.  a trust that He knows what's best for us; a trust that good or bad, He's got our back.

:bearing pains or trials calmly or without complaint
:steadfast despite opposition, difficulty or adversity

wow. how applicable this is to marriage and our walk with Christ.  steadfast. midst opposition and trials. God clearly warns us, if we are to marry, we will have struggle.  again, i come back to steadfast. trusting in God in the middle of pain and struggle. patient.

its amazing how one word and its definition can sum up one of the many facets of marriage; being well rooted in love, remaining steadfast no matter what storms you may face.  and here i have always believed "love is patient" meant more that love wasn't irritable, or quick to anger (which we will also get to further in the chapter).

James 1:2-4, Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.  Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

again. patience.

God intends for us to persevere, in our marriages and in life.  The enemy intends the complete opposite.  I remain thankful that God has gone before us, fought these battles, and he already conquered... long ago! So, all we have to do is sit back, be patient, and trust in the plan God has for our lives.

I serve a spit shinin' Jesus!

“No,” said Peter, “you shall never wash my feet.” Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.” (John 13:8 NIV)

We serve a God who offers us the ability to choose salvation. He offers to wash us, make us clean and new each morning, we have the ability to choose. He isn't a God who is going to love us any less if we don't choose his Grace, but we will have no part of him.

We have a long term maintenance package with the Savior; some days all we need is a spit shine, other days we need the ultimate, extreme wash.  Either way, the great news is, He's never done with us.  He continues to polish, shine, and shape us into the creation he had in mind when we were a twinkle in our parents' eyes.  & that, will never cease to amaze me. That the almighty, amazing, awesome God I serve, stops, takes a second or sometimes the whole day, just to walk beside me, sit beside me, or guide me through out my day. I remain awestruck.  I've been a daughter of The King for over half my life, and yet I still find myself, humbly at his feet on a daily basis.

My heart rejoices that my Jesus restores my soul daily!

thursday morning love

good morning! can i just tell you how amazingly excited i am that it is thursday! that it is almost the weekend!!! today marks my 18th day of 19 straight days of work. yep. straight. no days off. none. nada. i myself almost can't believe it.  i have never in my life been a workaholic. sure, i've always had a good work ethic, but when its 5, and especially 5 on a friday. i'm done. ready to spend time with my family and relax until monday.  well. the last couple weekends have been crazy busy for my company. homeshow season is upon us.  so there i found myself working 2 weekends in a row.  and that's not all. from those homeshows comes a flood of business, which is incredible...but makes for crazy busy, lunch hour-less days! wow. i'm tired just thinking about it ;) but as i sit here, swimming in my coffee pot, i am so incredibly thankful for a job i enjoy, coworkers who are not just friends but are becoming more like family.  i also find myself thankful for an amazing God who even when i don't get physical rest, he keeps me going. i won't pretend that the last few days my patience hasn't been wearing thin, or the fact that people in general drive me a bit insane... but here we go. its thursday. tomorrow is friday. and then whew... 2 days off!!! :)

i also have a trip planned this month to go see my family in MO... much to long over due! i wasn't able to go back when my Granny passed the beginning of January, so i've been trying to get back every since.  but there have been so many transitions at work... i'm finally seeing the light! we've got a few new people coming on board, my back up has been working with us for about a month now, and i'm in the process of training her to cover for me while i'm gone.  what a blessing.

yay! ok, now for a bit of husband love, as i continue to add to my never ending list of reasons i love my husband, along with the ladies over at happy wives club.

the gentle embraces and kisses i receive if he wakes up in the middle of the night. i might be asleep, but i feel the love. that's for sure. they're my favorite. a pure, no strings attached, kiss on the forehead. makes my heart flutter.

i really think he is always thinking of me.  he brings me home things from the store that he thinks i might like to take to work for lunch.  this week, mini-to-go-salads. complete with his suggestion to boil an egg, because he knows i ADORE boiled eggs on my salad. ♥

he never thinks twice about running errands for me to the store, and grabbing me things that aren't so manly... anything form purple razors to tampons. i try not to ask him too often...but as you read above, life has been crazy as of late ;)

he's a coach at heart.  he's coaching high school baseball again and i can tell it brings him so much joy. i love that he loves sports as well as investing in young men's lives.

he trusts me. i work with a majority of men. i love that he trusts me and encourages me in my work. he isn't threatened, and that is pretty darn sexy!

the call of my heart

growing up when people would ask me what i wanted to do with my life, or what i wanted to be... the first thing that always popped into my mind was a {Godly} wife and a mom.

as i contemplate on that this morning, i feel i have about an 1/8 of that equation down. the wife part (on a good day!).  sure, i strive to be a Godly wife and woman, but that's like saying i try not to sin or i try not to eat chocolate. i decided a couple of years ago to take the word try out of my vocabulary.  either i was or i wasn't.  but here i am using it in, quite frankly, my highest calling in my life right now.  so here i am again, reminding myself what a Godly wife looks like.  let's be honest... we all know it was laid out for us in Proverbs 31, but really the application of those virtues can be a bit vague and intimidating.  if you asked me 20 years ago what a Godly wife is, I would of thought as long as you love God and are a wife, that makes you a Godly wife.  sure, that first part  is key! quite frankly, i'm not sure how marriages happen without God, so when its all said and done that's the foundation, not the only piece. I ran across a pretty great outline and description of what a Godly wife looks like, from Girltalk Blog.  I personally love the scripture application in this description...and gasp, its not only from Proverbs 31 ;)

She knows her God

~She is in awe of God, the creator of the universe, who is “sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up” (Isa. 6:1).
~She trembles with dread and wonder before the perfect, pure, and holy Lord of all “who will by no means clear the guilty” (Ex. 34:7).
~She marvels at the undeserving love and mercy of Jesus Christ who “is slow and anger and abounding in steadfast love, forgiving iniquity and transgression” (Num. 14:18).
~She delights in the perfect wisdom of God, the beauty and order of His universe, the unfathomable perfection of His plan order of His universe, the unfathomable perfection of His plan of salvation, and His loving supervision of every detail of her life.

Her awe of God results in obedience to Him

~She seeks the Lord and delights in God’s Word (Ps. 1:2)
~She hates evil. She doesn’t admire those who love it (Prov. 8:13).
~She confesses her sin, serves in secret, cultivates inner beauty, humbly embraces God’s plan for her life, and trusts Him no matter what.

You recognize her because

~She is full of joy, peace, and hope for the future (Prov. 10:27)
~She has a strong confidence (Prov. 14:26), rest and satisfaction (Prov. 19:23), and contentment in God’s care and provision (Ps. 34:9).
~She’s the one to whom God and man give praise (Prov. 31:30-31).
“Come, O children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD.” Psalm 34:11

& this shall be the call of my heart.
